An interesting 1840 common prayer book in very good condition, printed at the Oxford University press by Samuel Collingwood and Co.
The cover is attractively gilt decorated tooled leather,which displays some mild wear/rubbing as shown in the photographs.
The edges of the pages are gilt painted and additionally decorated with phrases from the bible, which are in excellent condition.
There are two engraved brass clasps, one of which is slightly bent at one end and is missing its securing lug. The pages are generally bright and tight, displaying only very minor discolouration and foxing.
The spine appears to have become partially detached from the cover towards the back of the book, which can be seen in the photographs, but does not appear structurally detrimental.Height - 14.6 cm Width - 9.6 cm Depth - 3.2 cm
